Quick and easy HP JetDirect firmware updates

Today I had a client experiencing some iPrint weirdness with a particular HP printer.  After exhausting all Novell/Netware/iPrint support suggestions, I updated the HP LaserJet 2420 printer’s firmware via the HP JetDirect Download Manager.  After the upgrade completed and restarting the printer, all the iPrint problems had resolved themselves!

What I’ve always liked about this program is

1)  It automatically downloads pertinent firmware for you, either from the Internet or a local server

2)  It autodiscovers all HP JetDirect printers on your network

3)  You can select one or more printers to update simultaneously.  They don’t even have to be the same type of printer or use the same firmware.

Here’s a screenshot of the UI
